According to an article read in The Daily News on January 1, 2011, the end of the world is schedule for today, Friday, October 21, 2011. The Rapture of the true believers was already scheduled to have happened on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Of course, the ancient Mayans also have scheduled the end of the world for December 21, 2012. I wonder which one is right ….

According to an article read in The Daily News on January 1, 2011, the end of the world is schedule for today, Saturday, May 21, 2011. Well, more technically, some people have calculated based on Biblical dates that Jesus Christ will return today and Rapture the true believers. The actual end of the world is scheduled for October 21, 2011.

FUD at Fox News

Fox News is running a story referring to a proposed “accident tax” in New York City. The only problem is that what the story refers to is actually a user fee and not a tax. Only those people involved in an accident and require the use of City fire services would have to pay the fee. Taxes are levied on everyone in jurisdiction while user fees are charged to persons requiring services.

At least Fox News could get the terminology correct. But the Fear created by the alarmist headline must be better for ratings and Fox’s political agenda.

Got this when flipping over to look at Facebook.

Facebook DNS Failure

I thought maybe it was due to the announcement that Facebook’s founder was giving a giant amount of money to New Jersey schools. But then several other sites started showing DNS errors as well.

Is there a large DDoS or similar attack under way?

Looks like Facebook had an outage (second day in a row).

Bike Computers and iPhones

I have this cheap little wireless bike computer for tracking speed and distance. I learned today that setting it on top of an iPhone, even briefly, isn’t good for the data that it manages. The iPhone emits enough wireless signals to confuse it. The little computer begins recording erratic and erroneous data. It even said I had hit 56mph! I wish!
